Can you hear me now, Hartsville?

If you have Verizon Wireless, then you probably have noticed that you haven't been able to call or receive calls for most of the day.

As of 4 p.m. Thursday, the Hartsville service area has been given a "critical" assessment according to Tess, a service representative with Verizon Wireless.

"There looks like there is eight cell towers that are currently expressing some issues, and they weren't sure from what. So this morning they went out to see what was what.

"There is 162 people that have notified us about this. So it will be done in the next 24 hours."

She added that by 3:30 p.m., Verizon Wireless had received 162 complaints from Hartsville customers. At that point it was enough for the service to look into the Hartsville towers.

Currently those areas that have been affected include: Hartsville, Castalian Springs, southern Gallatin, Portland, northern Hendersonville, Cottontown and Harrison.

"We indeed have gotten word of it. It should be done sometime at the end of the day, if not tomorrow," said Tess.

At this time a phone call to Brian Malina, public relations specialist with Verizon Wireless, has not been returned.
