Auto dealer faces more complaints

A second complaint was filed Wednesday against Tommy Edwards, owner of Lebanon Motors.

Following fraud claims from earlier in the week, Michael Martin, of Lebanon, filed a theft complaint.

According to police reports, Martin told police he gave Edwards $6,000 for a down payment on a vehicle Nov. 1.

Martin said he then took possession of the vehicle, a 2010 Chrysler 300S, and said he borrowed the remaining $19,642.32 from Wilson Bank to pay for the car.

According to Martin, he has now been unable to register the vehicle as Edwards has apparently disappeared, and Martin is unaware of his whereabouts.

Martin said he is now in danger of losing the vehicle because he is not able to provide the title to Wilson Bank, which is the lien holder.

On Tuesday, Bob Guess, of Mt. Juliet, told Lebanon police in December he contracted to sell his vehicle with Edwards. Guess was then told by Edwards in January that his car was sold, but he was paid his money, which they had agreed to use to make a down payment on a vehicle to be bought from Manheim auto auction.

Guess also said Edwards has now disappeared without paying him the money or buying him another vehicle. Guess said Edwards owes him $14,000.

Edwards was also the subject of a missing persons report filed March 4 by his wife, Debra Edwards. At the time, Debra Edwards said her husband sent her a lengthy text message, but she couldn’t reach him by cellphone.

A Lebanon police officer made contact with Tommy Edwards two days later. At the time, Edwards said he was fine and not suicidal. The officer then removed Edwards’ name from the national missing persons directory.

Lebanon Motors has since closed with a sign on the door giving instructions to contact attorney Neal Agee with any questions. Attempts to reach Agee at his office were unsuccessful.

A majority of the vehicles formerly for sale were removed from Lebanon Motors’ lot Thursday.
