Smithson graduates basic training

 U.S. Army Pvt. Shane C. Smithson, 2nd Battalion, 47th Infantry, Bravo Co. recently graduated basic combat training in Fort Benning, Ga.

Smithson completed a rigorous and intense 10-week training program that prepared him for battle drills, tactics, and situations, including weaponry, land navigation, first aid, military disciplines, team building, and continued mental and physical fitness training. He is currently receiving his Additional Individual Training at Fort Gordon, Ga., Bravo Co. 44th Infantry 15 SIG BN, where he is working towards his position in the U.S. Army Signal Corps as an I.T. Specialist.

Smithson is the son of Tim Smithson, of Mt. Juliet, and Linda Mckenzie, of Lebanon. He is a 2012 graduate of Wilson Central High School, where he participated in four years of marching band.

Smith stationed in Yuma, Ariz.

Dre Smith, 20, with the U.S. Marine Corps, has been stationed for the last nine months in Yuma, Ariz. He works with in aviation for the corps.
