Shoe drive planned

Staff Reports • Updated Jul 31, 2014 at 2:39 PM

The annual Becky Dewaal Shoe Drive is scheduled for Friday at the Potter’s House.

The shoe drive began in 1993 when the late Becky Dewaal and Bertie Alligood began finding ways to provide shoes for a few children in need. First Baptist Church of Lebanon desired to help and began contributing toward the ministry financially.

The drive is currently being organized by The Potter’s House, which assesses the needs and provides the distribution point each year. Each year the shoe drive gives away hundreds of pairs of shoes to inner-city children as well as socks and underwear.

The Potter’s House is located in the Mary Chaffin Memorial Church Building at 715 Lake St. For information contact Jan Dewaal at 305-5684.
