The award was in recognition of Hutto’s support of veterans and the Wilson County Veterans Park.

Hutto said that although he wasn’t a veteran, he had several family members who served. He saw evidence of the brotherhood of veterans and said, “I always wanted to be one of you.” He also stated that the honorary membership would be one of the awards he treasures most.

In other business, appreciation plaques were presented to Bernie Ash, Veterans Service Officer, and Carol Dedman, Assistant Service Officer. The inscriptions read: On Behalf of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1004 Lebanon, TN, With Sincere Appreciation for Your Outstanding Contributions In Servicing and Supporting Our Veterans.

The chapter meets the first Monday of every month (except August) at the Veterans’ Building at the Wilson County Fairgrounds at 6 p.m.  “Never again will one generation of Veterans abandon another.”
