Barlow, Rojas pace runners at Rhodes Invit.

MEMPHIS — Freshman Joel Barlow and sophomore Jerry Rojas both finished in the Top 30 and junior Claudia Tepox paced the women for Cumberland cross country Saturday at the Rhodes College Invitational.

Barlow placed 21st among 188 runners on the 8K course with a time of 27:19.4, 10 seconds faster than last week’s mark for the Lebanon native. Rojas finished 29th overall in 27:42.6, with the duo helping Cumberland to an eighth-place showing as a team among 20 participants.

Juniors Carlos Tirado and Chris Swann were 60th and 63rd, respectively, with times of 28:43.3 and 28:49.9, while freshman Nate Mihnovich placed 66th in 28:53.6 and freshman Titus Williams finished 84th in 29:46.1.

Junior Michael Rogers crossed the finish line in 30:46.9 for 97th, with freshmen Nikita Fopiano and Carlos Angeles-Solis placed 123rd and 156th, respectively, in 31:02.5 and 33:37.5.

Tepox was the top finisher for the women, finishing 53rd in 20:33.1 on the 5K course, while sophomore Amber Mays was 61st in 20:43.9 and junior Taylor Blankenship placed 63rd in 20:45.7.

Sophomore Gavin DuVall was 75th in 21:12.8, with three freshmen behind her – Elaine Park in 84th (21:34.8), Anna Grose in 88th (21:58.9) and Hannah Spring in 96th (22:23.0). Sophomore Michaela Postell placed 143rd in 23:18.2 and freshman Kintana Banks finished 164th in 25:46.7.

After racing three straight weeks, Cumberland will take a week off before competing again Sept. 30 at the Greater Louisville (Ky.) Classic.
