UPDATE: Schools to close Monday, Tuesday

Staff Reports • Dec 15, 2015 at 2:09 PM

With classes set to resume next week for the spring semester, Cumberland University employees will report to campus Monday at 10 a.m.

Cumberland President Harvill Eaton said he would review conditions early Monday morning and make changes to those plans, if needed.

Friendship Christian School officials joined Lebanon and Wilson County schools in cancelling classes Monday and Tuesday. Mt. Juliet Christian Academy is also closed Monday.

Both Lebanon and Wilson County schools will be closed Monday and Tuesday due to the potential impact of winter storms.

City and county school officials made the decision Sunday at about 2:15 p.m. and based it on potentially hazardous road conditions and dangerously low temperatures.

All Wilson County schools daycare and extracurricular activities are cancelled both Monday and Tuesday. Lebanon schools' daycare will remain open, but extracurricular activities are cancelled.

Wilson County teachers, administrators and other school officials are expected to report Tuesday at noon.

At Friendship, there will be no extended care or athletic events Monday, and cap and gown photos will be rescheduled. In addition, the morning parent prayer group meeting will not be held.
