Wilson County Schools set to ask state to extend bus limits

The Wilson County School Board will meet Monday to discuss several items on its agenda.

Director of Schools Tim Setterlund said there are a number of board policies that will be up for second reading and also bids for the system’s long distance service and for athletic lighting.

A resolution requesting that the state allow buses to operate more than 17 years is also on the agenda. This same resolution was addressed at a recent Lebanon Special School District meeting.

“We will probably talk more about construction at Carroll-Oakland Elementary School,” Setterlund said. There has been some discussion on this topic in recent months due to the overcrowding issues at the school.

“The county’s got a pretty significant bond debt, so their funds are limited, and we know that. [Construction at Carroll-Oakland] is our most desperate need so we will probably address that.”
