The process to decide on an interim director for Wilson County Schools will begin in earnest Saturday in a work session.

School Board Chairman Don Weathers said what the board is looking for in the interim director is “someone that can maintain the system and manage day-to-day operations.”

No specific qualifications have been brought up for the interim position.

There are four deputy directors who could be in the running for the interim position, as well as the permanent job down the road.

Deputy directors Mickey Hall, Mickey Hutson, Leisa Justus and Mary Ann Sparks could all have their names considered Saturday as potential interim leaders.

“I’m sure any one of those four would be a fine candidate,” said Weathers.

He added that the interim director would need to keep the system running and also noted some challenges they might face.

“We’ve got a lot of things coming at us, with testing and test scores and Common Core…We will discuss on Saturday and hopefully come to a decision on Monday at the board meeting,” said Weathers.
