Lebanon High School graduation plans set

Lebanon High School officials released Thursday information parents and family members should know regarding upcoming graduation ceremony.

The ceremony will be May 31 at 7 p.m. at Clifton Tribble Field at Danny Watkins Stadium.

The plans come nearly a year after possible bad weather was forecast, forcing a last-minute move from the stadium to the school’s gymnasium for graduation. The move, along with parking and traffic issues, left several parents and other family members unable to attend ceremonies in the gym.

Lebanon High School teacher Alison Johnson said in the event of inclement weather this year, the ceremony will be moved to the gymnasium, and tickets will be required for admittance.

“The seating in the gymnasium will be divided equally among the number of graduates. Students will receive six tickets. Overflow seating will be directed to the cafeteria and the auditorium to watch the ceremony on televisions, which should have both audio and video of the ceremony,” Johnson said.

Should the weather remain clear, the ceremony will continue on the football field, and tickets are not needed.

Graduates will be issued three parking passes. Johnson said faculty members will park at a different location and be shuttled to the ceremony to allow more spaces for family and friends of graduates.

Overflow parking will be available at College Hills Church of Christ, Fairview Baptist Church and West Hills Baptist Church. Shuttles will run from each location beginning at 5 p.m. and ending at 7 p.m. Shuttles will begin working again at the end of graduation and continue for one hour after the end of graduation, according to Johnson.
