A total of 16 students at Wilson Central High School have been charged following a food fight at the school last Friday.

Daren Romkee, John Davidson, Joseph Waters, Gage Anderson, Justin Richards and Emma Ginter, along with 10 juveniles, were issued misdemeanor citations for disorderly conduct and vandalism following the incident. Lt. Scott Moore with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office said the school is currently assessing the amount of damage caused in the incident and some ceiling tiles were replaced at the school Friday morning.

Sheriff Robert Bryan said the school’s two School Resource Officers received information something was going to happen Friday in the lunchroom. He said within a few minutes, the SROs were able to gain control of the situation but not before quite a bit of food was thrown. He said officers also found eggs and other food brought into the lunchroom from outside the school.

The students are scheduled to appear in court June 24 in Judge Barry Tatum’s courtroom.
