Staff Reports • Mar 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM

The Encore Theatre Co. announced the play, ‘night, Mother, will be next to take the stage in its 10th anniversary season.

The show opens March 25 and runs weekends through April 3. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees begin at 2:30 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the show’s start.

Winner of the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for drama and nominated for multiple Tony awards, ‘night, Mother is a moving, taut and ultimately shattering play that explores the lonely relationship between a mother and daughter, who live in the same house, yet are estranged and alienated.

Directed by Joel Meriwether and starring Elizabeth Hayes and Meigie Mabry, the modern, psychological drama examines a family’s inability to meaningfully communicate and what happens when years of barriers are destroyed by the search for an ultimate truth.

The show contains intense subject matter and is not suitable for children.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors 60 and older. To buy tickets, visit encore-theatre-company.org or call 615-598-8950

Encore Theatre Co. is at 6978 Lebanon Road, just west of Highway 109, in Mt. Juliet. Encore is a nonprofit community theater that serves Wilson County and the surrounding Middle Tennessee area.
