New ‘Wonders of Wilson County’ book for sale at Wilson Bank & Trust

From interesting trivia to hidden gems, there are plenty of tidbits that even lifetime residents can learn about this neck of the woods in a new book by Ken Beck called “Wonders of Wilson County.”

Beck’s publication, a “compendium of facts about people, places and assorted curiosities,” and contains hundreds of highlights and reflections about events, achievements, characters and locations that are part of Wilson County’s rich history.

Copies of the book can be purchased at any local office of Wilson Bank & Trust for $8 each, plus tax. A portion of every sale will help share more Wilson County history, through donations to the Wilson County Veterans Museum and Fiddlers Grove Historic Village.

As a sponsor of the book, Wilson Bank & Trust will provide a free copy to every fourth- and fifth-grade student who attends school in Wilson County.

“We’re grateful to Ken Beck for his desire to shed light on the things that make Wilson County great and for all of the hard work he and others put into bringing the book to fruition,” said Wilson Bank & Trust CEO Randall Clemons. “As a community bank, we place a lot of importance on local history, and we’re glad to be part of a publication that celebrates the place we call home.”

Beck will hold a book signing at Oktoberfest, which will take place Oct. 21-22 at the Wilson Bank & Trust main office in Lebanon. Copies of the book can also be purchased at the event.

A former entertainment writer for the The Tennessean, Ken Beck has lived in Wilson County since 1974.  He estimates he has written close to 500 stories about Wilson County people, places and history.  He has written or co-written numerous books, many about his favorite subject, the Andy Griffith Show.
