The TBI arrested a Lebanon man Wednesday after the Governor’s Task Force on Marijuana Eradication spotted a marijuana grow operation in his yard.

Donald Robert Upchurch, 63, of Carthage Highway, was arrested and charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession for resale of a Schedule VI, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm during a commission of a felony, prohibitive weapons, being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon and violating his probation.

The grow operation at Upchurch’s residence contained approximately 24 plants and one and a half pounds of finished marijuana.

“It looks like it’s a pretty decent sized grow,” said Lebanon police Chief Scott Bowen. “As close proximity as it was to Lebanon, I would suspect at least some of it was coming into Lebanon.”

After the operation was spotted, TBI and the Lebanon police department arrested Upchurch. The Tennessee Highway Patrol also assisted in the case.

“It’s so vitally important for us to be able to work together with these agencies,” said Bowen. “We all work together, and we all have information to share.”

The operation remains under investigation.
