A wreck early Wednesday morning sent a man to the hospital after his vehicle crashed into a parked car and sent that car into a home.

According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Tim E. Fowler, 44, of Humboldt, was traveling in a 2006 Honda S on Interstate 40 around 1:30 a.m. when the investigating trooper observed Fowler swerve onto the exit at 239A. The trooper continued to observe for erratic driving.

The report said Fowler’s vehicle then pulled into the parking lot of a business on Highway 70. He then exited the parking lot by accelerating quickly.

At this point, “the trooper then activated all of his emergency equipment and attempted to catch up to the suspect vehicle,” according to the report.

Fowler approached the intersection of Sparta Pike and Park Avenue. He then exited the roadway causing his vehicle to roll over several times, coming to a rest after striking a 2003 Saturn L-30, which was parked and unoccupied. The Saturn was then knocked into a house, the report said.

Fowler was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center following the crash.

He was charged with DUI, violation of the implied consent law, failure to yield, failure to exercise due care, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and reckless driving. Fowler was wearing a seatbelt.
