Over the past few months a string of Hispanic graffiti could be seen cropping up in different places around Lebanon.

Police Chief Scott Bowen said the vandalism has mostly been in specific areas of the city

“We’ve had some crop up mainly in the south end of the city,” Bowen said. “Mostly we’ve got some over on South Maple Street and South Cumberland and in the Wal-Mart shopping center.”

Bowen said the area that they’ve seen the graffiti in most is an area that is predominantly Hispanic populations confined that that area.

Bowen also said police have seen more crop up over the last six months.

“The police are monitoring it and are aware of it,” Bowen said.

Bowen said most of the graffiti ultimately goes back to gangs and gang involvement.

“We’re keeping up with that stuff,” Bowen said. “When we see gang graffiti we keep up with it and make sure we know who’s in what area.”
