NASHVILLE –Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents assisted the State Comptroller’s Office in an investigation that alleged former Marshall County Deputy Larry G. Hardin, 59, stole tires from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
On Jan. 21, and at the request of the District Attorney General Robert Carter, TBI agents began to assist the State Comptroller’s Office in the investigation. Information indicated Harding had taken tires from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and put the tires on his girlfriend’s vehicle. The tires had an estimated value of more than $500.
On Jan. 28, TBI agents recovered the tires allegedly stolen by Hardin. Hardin has since resigned from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
On Wednesday, a Marshall County grand jury returned an indictment for theft of more than $500 and official misconduct. Both indictments are felonies. Hardin was arrested and booked into the Marshall County jail on $2,500 bond.
