Lebanon police arrested a man early Tuesday morning after he drove his car into a home on South Maple Street.

Around 1 a.m., officers responded to a call of a car accident into a house and, upon arrival, found a blue car had crashed into the front of the home. They said the driver fled the scene of the crash.

Officers said the car tag came back to Felipe Pantaleon Ortiz, 21, of Lebanon, who lived nearby in an apartment at 418 S. Maple St.

Police found Ortiz at his apartment and took him back to the scene of the crash.

According to officers, Ortiz admitted to driving the car. They said that upon further investigation they found the car to be speeding and that Ortiz had failed to stop at the stop sign at the end of West Jennings Avenue.

There were several people inside the home at the time of the crash, officers said.

Police said Ortiz’s driver’s license was suspended for failing to pay a citation in 2007 in Wilson County.

Officers took Ortiz into custody, where he was charged with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene, failure to report an accident and driving on a suspended license.

According to a property report, the damages to the front of the home had a value of $20,000.
