Wilson County Sheriff’s deputies said a local man was booked on several charges after a long night of feuding with his ex-wife.
According to officers, Joshua Underhill, 32, of Lebanon, was charged with domestic assault, aggravated criminal trespassing, theft of property and vandalism.
Officers said Joshua’s ex-wife, Meredith Underhill, told deputies Saturday night that had been on a date at Los Compadres in Lebanon the night before when her ex-husband, Joshua, came up to them cursing her and calling her names.
She said that he had her two children – a six-year-old and a three-year-old – in his car in the parking lot by themselves.
She told officers she went home around 11 p.m. and Joshua then showed up at the home and began banging on the door and windows and cursing while the children were still in the car.
On both instances, she said, he left after screaming at her and her date.
At 2 a.m., she said, he then returned, pulled into the driveway, then left.
At 6 a.m., she said, he returned with the children in the car and again banged on the back door, continued screaming and told her he needed his son’s medication. She said she gave him the medication and asked about the children before he left again.
She said he returned again at 9 a.m. and banged on the door. She told officers she could hear the children crying in the car and that she could see her six-year-old coming up to the house.
Officers said that she said he then grabbed the screen door handle and pulled on it so hard that it broke off and opened. She told officers he pushed her back into the house and came inside and got a sweater he had given her.
She said at this time the children were crying and she asked that they be left with her, but he refused and left again.
She told officers that due to his past and recent actions, she now lives in fear of what he may do next, as well as fear for the safety of her children.
Officers said Joshua later turned himself in.
His court date is set for June 25.
