Lebanon police charged the daughter of country legend Hank Williams Sr. with her second driving under the influence offense in almost as many months.
Jett Williams Adkinson, 61, of Hartsville, was charged with driving under the influence, violation of conditional release for alcohol and violation of implied consent law late Friday night.
Officers said they were dispatched to the Hartmann Drive area for a possible impaired driver after 10 p.m. after a concerned citizen told dispatch that a silver Jaguar was “driving on the wrong side of the road.”
Officers said they noticed the car at Hartmann Drive and Leeville Pike and saw the driver of the same Jaguar swerve within its lane, coming extremely close to a red truck and causing the truck to swerve to avoid contact.
Upon stopping the car, the driver was found to be Adkinson. When officers advised why she had been pulled over, Adkinson said she was eating pizza and drinking a Diet Coke.
Officer said that when Adkinson got out of the car she seemed unsteady on her feet and had red, watery eyes and slurred speech.
When asked if she’d been drinking, Adkinson told officers she had some wine two hours earlier.
Officers said she was then asked to perform four different field sobriety tasks, which they said she did poorly on all. Adkinson was then placed into custody for DUI.
Adkinson refused a blood alcohol test and was also charged with violation of implied consent law. She was also charged with violation of conditional release for alcohol.
She was booked just before midnight Friday and released Saturday at 4:55 a.m. on $1,500 bond. A court date is set for June 9.
Adkinson was previously arrested on a DUI charge on Feb. 25, when officers initiated a traffic stop after 2:30 a.m. on a 1998 Jaguar for suspicion of DUI after watching the car swerve between lanes.
At the time, Adkinson was also issued citations for not wearing a seatbelt and not having proof of current insurance.
