The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has obtained indictments for a Rutherford County man accused of having a sexual relationship with a minor in Jackson County.
TBI Special Agents began investigating Jacob Belcher on May 27, at the request of 15th District Attorney General Tommy Thompson. Investigators believe that from October 2013 to March, Belcher developed an inappropriate relationship with a minor female, whom he met online, which culminated on several occasions with sexual activity at or near her family’s Jackson County home.
On Monday, the Jackson County Grand Jury returned an indictment for the 20-year-old Smyrna man, charging him with five counts of statutory rape. Today, he turned himself in to the Jackson County Jail, where he was booked and subsequently released after posting $5,000 bond.
