U. S. marshals contacted Lebanon police early Friday morning and advised they believed two escapees from the Putnam County Jail were in Lebanon’s jurisdiction.
Michael Wayne Flanigan, 21, of Cookeville and Jordan Bradley Langford, 22, of Sparta, were the apparent escapees on the run.
Marshals spotted a silver 2002 Acura sedan at about 2:20 a.m. with the escapees and women inside near the Walmart on South Cumberland Street.
When marshals attempted to stop the vehicle, the escapees drove away, and a chase ensued.
The chase included Interstate 40, Hartmann Drive and Highway 231 North and ended when the escapee’s car crashed into the entrance to Poppies Boutique on the Lebanon Square.
The escapees fled on foot and were caught by marshals, Lebanon police officers and Wilson County sheriff’s deputies. The two women with them were detained at the scene of the crash.
Flanigan was taken to Tennova Healthcare-Lebanon for minor injuries received from K9 Jaxx during the apprehension, and the other three were booked in at the Wilson County Jail.
The two women involved were Malea N. Green-Pacinas, 20, and Edna S. Knight, 23, both of Baxter.
All of the suspects will face additional charges to be issued by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Marshal’s Task Force. Local charges weren’t immediately available.
