People Choice Awards names Lawrence finalist

Tracy Lawrence has earned his share of ACM and CMA awards over the years. But the singer felt a special honor when he heard the news the 40th Annual People's Choice Awards named him as a finalist for favorite country music icon.
“I am honored and excited that the People Choice Awards would think of me as an icon, said Lawrence, a Wilson County resident. “I truly share a deep passion for country music, and to be a finalist in this category is very rewarding.”
Favorite country music icon is among the new categories introduced for the 40th Annual People's Choice Awards. Fans can vote for Lawrence, as well as Alan Jackson, Clint Black, Emmylou Harris, George Strait, Glen Campbell, Randy Travis, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Travis Tritt, Vince Gill or Willie Nelson, through Oct. 31 at peopleschoice.com. The top five will make up the nominees to be announced Nov. 5. The show will air Jan. 9 on CBS.
The entertainer recently released his first album in several years, Headlights, Taillights, and Radios, which received positive reviews from critics in just one week of the release. Chuck Dauphin of Billboard said the it’s the “the album of his career” and Lawrence’s current single ,“Footprints On The Moon,” is “definitely a winner.”
Lawrence is one of the most recognizable voices in country music with songs such as “Paint Me A Birmingham,” “Time Marches On,” “Alibis” and “Find Out Who Your Friends Are.” The entertainer has enjoyed 22 songs on the Billboard top-10 charts with 18 No. 1 singles, selling more than 13 million albums.
