Boy Scout Troop 293 will compete for top prizes, but it will be the guests who are guaranteed winners.

Walton Trail’s Boy Scouts are getting their recipes ready for the 11th annual chili cook-off. The event will be Jan. 25 from 5-7:30 p.m. at College Hills Church of Christ.

For $5, guests will get chili, hot dogs, a drink, live music and door prizes. Children 12 and under eat free with a paying adult.

This year’s theme is video games. The scouts will prepare the chili and are awarded prizes for best chili and best fulfillment of the theme in the chili name, dress, décor, etc.

According to committee chairman Jeff Hall, cold temperatures have slowed ticket sales.

“This is our troop’s only fundraiser and is a tradition in the community,” Hall said. “We’ve got to sell tickets.”

The troop will also take donations from anyone who may not be able to attend. For tickets, contact Hall at info@hgarchitecture.com and a scout will be in touch.
