The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District at Old Hickory Lake will hold a shoreline management plan update public workshop this week.
The workshop will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Mt. Juliet High School.
The workshop’s purpose is to provide lake stakeholders with an opportunity to propose improvements to the current 2008 shoreline management plan.
Biologist Thomas Mason said public ideas, comments and requests received at workshops will help Old Hickory Lake meet its goal of effective and balanced long-range management of the shoreline resources of the lake.
“We have already received more than 100 comments and requests prior to the upcoming workshop and will continue to receive requests, comments, and idea during the 30 day public comment period that will end Feb. 15,” said Mason. “While we cannot grant every request, we will ensure that each will be fully and fairly evaluated.”
A draft copy of the shoreline management plan is posted on the Old Hickory Lake website at lrn.usace.army.mil/Locations/Lakes/OldHickoryLake and will also be available at the workshop for everyone who attends.
Written comments and requests will be accepted at the workshops or mailed to the Old Hickory Lake resource manager’s office at No. 5 Power Plant Road, Hendersonville, TN 37075. All mailed comments and requests must be received by no later than Feb. 15 to be considered.
Mt. Juliet High School is at 1800 Curd Road in Mt. Juliet.
