Wilson County The Place to Be officials want to know what makes Wilson County so special, and it’s willing to put some money where the community’s mouth is during an upcoming promotional sweepstakes.
Through May 9, anyone who likes Wilson County The Place to Be’s Facebook page and answers the question, “What makes Wilson County the place to be?” will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card.
An additional drawing for a chance to win $100 will take place among those who enter the Wilson County The Place to Be drawing and are also or become a fan of The Lebanon Democrat’s Facebook page.
“The Democrat is giving community members who are proud of Wilson County two chances to win,” said Jared Felkins, editor of The Democrat. “We want to help garner as many responses as possible to help Wilson County The Place to Be find out all the many things that make Wilson County special.”
Wilson County The Place to Be committee members Judy Cox and Dorie Mitchell met with Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto, Felkins and other regional media representatives to finalize the details. An announcement about the promotion was also made on the day of its kickoff Wednesday at Leadership Wilson’s 20th anniversary celebration and annual alumni luncheon.
“We already know many of the things that make Wilson County the place to be, but we want to hear from our community members,” said Mitchell, who is also director of Leadership Wilson. “We believe by offering this special opportunity it will grow our presence on social media and make others – both near and far – aware of all the things that make our home special.”
The Democrat’s staff pledged its support to offer regular updates on Wilson County The Place to Be’s Facebook page to keep the community informed about special events, photos and other good news stories about Wilson County.
“We want to be able to tell good news about things that are going on in Wilson County, and this Facebook effort will be a good way to do that,” Hutto said. “Of course, doing this with no one to see it is counterproductive. That’s why this promotion is so important. We encourage everyone to follow Wilson County The Place to Be’s Facebook page and visit it often to stay informed.”
