The Big Payback, presented by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, is a 24-hour online giving event created to help local nonprofits raise funds vital to continue their work, which directly improves the community at-large.
Through Wednesday at 6 a.m., anyone can make donations at the website of a favorite participating charity or at thebigpayback.org.
More than 520 Middle Tennessee nonprofits, including six in Wilson County, are participating in this inaugural giving day, which serves the 40 counties of Middle Tennessee.
An online leaderboard tracks donations in real time. Along with donations, nonprofits are eligible to win financial prizes totaling more than $150,000.
Eligible Wilson County charities are Cedarcroft, Fiddlers Grove Foundation, Mt. Juliet Animal Shelter Volunteer Organization, New Leash on Life, Wilson County CASA and the Community Foundation of Wilson County.
“Nonprofits do life-changing work every day across Middle Tennessee and it’s time for us to come together through the Big Payback to support their efforts and recognize the positive impact they have on our neighbors, in our own backyards,” said Ellen Lehman, president of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. “The Big Payback will be an easy, fun and a meaningful way for all of us to show our local pride and give back to what is important to us.”
People making donations Tuesday and Wednesday will be able to view and select from participating nonprofits based on location and focus area, such as animals, education, health care and more. Donors can support multiple nonprofits and make gifts of any size, from $10 and up.
The Big Payback supporters include the Kharis Foundation, SunTrust Foundation, Delek, Delta Dental of Tennessee, the Frist Foundation, Baptist Healing Trust, Cat Financial, Curo Health Services, KraftCPAs, Zehnder, Kroger, Bongo Java, The Jane and Richard Eskind and Family Foundation, Susan and Luke Simons, and the Danner Foundation, among others.
