Go Johnny Go gives to Sherry's Run

Go Johnny Go 5K/Walk/Run/10K and the Johnny Keel Wellness Foundation presented $5,000 to Sherry’s Run, the largest grassroots, faith-based organization in Wilson County serving and making a difference in the lives of families who are fighting cancer.

Go Johnny Go is held each May to raise funds for the Johnny Keel Wellness Foundation, which makes grants to efforts that address health and wellness in Wilson County. Pictured (from left) are Sherry’s Run board chair Tonyia Watson, Go Johnny Go chair and Lebanon-Wilson County Chamber of Commerce past chair Rick Smith, Sherry’s Run executive board member Tamara Lampsa and Go Johnny Go’s Peggy Keel, whose late husband is the namesake for the race.

Johnny Keel struggled with cancer for several years, and always approached the battle with a “never give up” attitude.

The Go Johnny Go 5K/Walk/Run/10K will be Saturday at Sports Village in Lebanon. Online registration is available on active.com through Thursday at noon and at Sports Village until race time. A children’s fun run takes place at 7:30 a.m. followed by Go Johnny Go at 8 a.m.

Registration is $25 in advance, $30 the day of the event for the 5K/Walk/Run/10K and $10 in advance for the one-mile fun run or $20 the day of the event. For more information, call the chamber at 615-444-5503.
