A single-car crash on Highway 231 in Wilson County killed a Lebanon man early Sunday morning.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Charles Rich, 45, was killed in the wreck that happened just after 4:30 a.m.
In the preliminary report, Trooper Jason Flatt said Rich’s truck was traveling southbound on Highway 231 when it left the roadway to the left and struck a mailbox and then a culvert, which caused the car to go airborne. The 2006 Chevrolet Silverado then flipped and landed on its roof.
Officers said Rich was dead at the scene.
According to the report, Rich was drinking and was not wearing his seatbelt. Toxicology reports were ordered on Rich’s body.
Rich vehicle was the only one involved in the incident.
