Staff Reports • Jun 8, 2016 at 11:46 AM

MT. JULIET – Mt. Juliet police will provide an escort Wednesday for moving the body of retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. John Wade Maxwell, who recently died at 91.

A World War II and Vietnam veteran, Maxwell served from 1945-70. He earned a Distinguished Flying Cross for an emergency ammunition resupply mission flying a C130 during the Tet in March 1968.

The escort will begin at Nashville International Airport and will end at Sellars Funeral Home in Mt. Juliet. It is expected the escort will pass through Mt. Juliet along North Mt. Juliet Road, between Interstate 40 and Division Street, at around 2:30 p.m. During that time, minor traffic delays should be expected.

Those who wish to show honor to Maxwell are encouraged to line the escort route. A message will be sent on Mt. Juliet Police Department’s social media once the exact time of the escort through Mt. Juliet is determined.
