Mr. Miller, of the Popes Hill community, was pronounced dead on arrival at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage at 5:58 a.m. Thursday morning Oct. 17, 2013 after suffering an apparent fatal heart attack at his Bob Moore Lane home. He was 59.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. and burial will follow in the Wilson County Memorial Park. Dr. Jonas Taylor will officiate.
The Miller family will receive friends at Sanderson in Carthage on Saturday from 3-8 p.m. and on Sunday after 11 a.m.
Born Stephen Craig Miller in Murfreesboro on Aug. 19, 1954 he was one of two sons of Betty June Reynolds Miller of Lebanon and the late Clyde Miller.
His wife of over 35 years, Nashville native Deborah Jean Miller, died April 1, 2013 at the age of 60. They were married in Nashville on March 24, 1978.
Mr. Miller was a 1973 graduate of Stratford High School in Nashville and received a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
He retired earlier this year as Power Plant Project Manager for the Cordell Hull Dam. He had been employed with the United States Army Corps of Engineers for 34 years.
Active in the Boy Scouts of America, he had served on the prestigious Eagle Scout Board of Review.
Mr. Miller was an avid golfer and played on a regular basis. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving in addition to his mother are a daughter, Amanda Miller of the home; son, Patrick Miller and wife Emily of Montgomery, Ala.; grandson, Elijah Craig Miller; brother, Michael Alan Miller and wife Mary Anna of Lebanon; and father and mother-in-law, William and Shirley Cochran, also of the Popes Hill community.
