Ike Stewart

Funeral services for Mr. Stewart are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Owens and Bro. Jonas Taylor officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Stewart Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday after 9 a.m. at Ligon & Bobo.

Mr. Stewart, 85, of Lebanon, passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at the Alvin C. York Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro.  

Born April 23, 1928 in Wilson County, he was the son of the late Issac and Mary Jane Griffin Stewart. He served in the United States Navy from June 11, 1945 to Nov. 1, 1962. He retired as the Wilson County Veterans Service Officer on June 30, 2003, a position he had held since Oct. 1, 1967. He was a member of West Hills Baptist Church, the Gideons, V.F.W. and American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Cleveland Stewart, James Thomas Stewart and Rufus Harrison Stewart.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Allison Stewart; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kim Stewart; two grandchildren, Will and Katie Stewart; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of 8B VA Medical Center, Murfreesboro.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Allison, Russ Skougland, Tyler Lasater, Jeff Medlin, Allan Shehane and Larry Singleton.
