Donald Fields

Eld. Charles Allen Gentry will officiate at the 11 a.m. Thursday morning Nov. 21 services for Mr. Fields from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery alongside Donald’s mother and father. The family will receive friends again on Thursday after 9 a.m. at Sanderson in Carthage.

Mr. Fields, 62, of South Carthage, died at 4:52 p.m. Monday afternoon Nov. 18, 2013 at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where he had resided since Dec. 24, 2002.

Born George Donald Fields in Cookeville on Sept. 16, 1951, he was the youngest of five sons born to George Carmon Fields who died Nov. 5, 1997 at the age of 84 and Ruby Carrie Watts Fields who died May 9, 2002 at the age of 87.

Donald was a special needs gentleman and was dearly loved by his brothers and sisters-in-law and had a special place in the hearts of his caregivers at the Smith County Health Care Center.

Although he had no formal education he loved to sing and knew every word of I’ll Fly Away and Jingle Bells.

Surviving are his four brothers, Billy Fields and wife Margaret of Lebanon; Mackie Fields and his wife Hulene of Dixon Springs, Eddie Fields and his wife Sylvia of Lebanon and Roger Fields of South Carthage.

Roger’s wife, the former Peggy Sue Dishman, died April 10 of this year at the age of 62.
