Sgt. Wilbur J. Bowman Sr.

Funeral services for Sgt. Bowman will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Donnie Kelly and Michael Hale officiating. Interment will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-7 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Sgt. Wilbur J. Bowman Sr., affectionately known to many as "Sarge," age 93, of Smithville, passed away Sunday at his residence. He served in the U.S. Army for 26 years, having retired in 1963. He was on active duty during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a carpenter.
He is survived by four sons, Wilbur J. (Beverly) Bowman Jr., of Nashville, Dennis (Sandy) Bowman, of Chattanooga, Larry (Mary Lou) Bowman, of Texas, Tracy (Marienne) Bowman, of Nashville; six grandchildren, Gary, Brandi, Peter, Stacie, Shaun and Matthew; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
DeKalb Funeral Chapel in Smithville is in charge of the arrangements.
