Chanie Raines

Funeral services for Mr. Raines are Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Elder Danny Raines, Elder Garry Drennon, Brother Kenneth Bowen and Elder Anthony Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday from 2-8 p.m. and will be Monday after 10 a.m.

Elder Chanie Raines, age 84, of Lebanon, passed away Feb. 7, 2014 at his home.  He was born in Macon County, the son of the late Bud Alexander Raines and Emily Key Raines. He was an ordained Missionary Baptist minister and a retired building contractor.  He was a member of Old Paths Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jewel Hall Raines; brothers, Sammie Raines, Robert Robinson; two sisters:  Lexie Fish, Bunia Anderson. 

He is survived by four children, Zander Dell (Carol) Raines, Vanessa (David) Stuff, Timothy Wayne (Patricia) Raines, Jeffery Joe (Elizabeth Ann) Raines; brother, Jimmy (Brenda) Raines; four sisters, Louise Otto, Hazel Davenport, Virgie Pharris, Dean (Jackie) Phillips; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Doug and Vernon Raines, Troy Pharris, Scott Bowen, Michael Harris and Elder Michael Drennon. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Ashey, Kenny Bowen, Charlie Hall, Scott Satterfield and J.C. Satterfield.
