The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Barbara’s Church in Vulcan, Mich. with Father Timothy Ekaitis presiding.
Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
Stella Ann Pellegrini, age 97, of Vulcan, Mich., died Monday, March 20, 2017 at Manor Care Nursing of Kingsford, Mich.
She was born Jan. 11, 1920 in Norway, Mich., the daughter of the late John and Perina (Eblovi) Molinare.
Stella attended the Norway Schools and graduated in 1937 and took business courses after graduation.
Stella married Richard Pellegrini on Nov. 26, 1942 in Holy Family Catholic Church in Jerome, Ariz. He preceded her in death May 11, 1982.
Richard and Stella owned a dairy farm and were shareholder members of the Norway Cooperative. Stella did the finance and business management for their farming business.
Stella enjoyed cooking, playing cards, gardening, ceramics and painting. She belonged to the Loretto Women’s Auxiliary and was active as a 4-H leader. Stella and Richard were honored as Farmer of the Year in 1975. She loved living in her 1891 big red brick house built on the lower Pine Creek looking out at the beautiful Vulcan Hill and stayed on the family farm for 33 years after Richard’s death. She resided at Manor Care Nursing Home since June 2015.
Her main interests centered on her husband, children and faith and was the personal hero of all her children. She exemplified a life of serving others and will be missed by all that loved her.
Stella is survived by three children, Perianne Yourkoski, of Bremerton, Wash., Richard (Kim) Pellegrini, of Milan, Mich., Patricia (Glen) Asp, of Lebanon; six grandchildren, Eric (Holly) Pellegrini, Kendra Stone, Matthew Pellegrini, Theresa Sisson, Karen (Michael) Smith, Michael (Jamie) Yourkoski; 12 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Brittney, Ellie, Anna, Aaron, Ashley, Marissa, Allison, Hannah, Maximus, Michael, Gage; a great-great-grandson, Liam; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. She is also survived by her companion cat, Sassy.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James Yourkoski; her three brothers, Peter, Frank, Lauren; and two sisters, Madeline and Ann.
