Mrs. Hackney, age 95, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, at the Pavilion.
Born April 9, 1922, in Rutherford County, she is the daughter of the late Harvey Johnson Adams and Nolia Smith Adams.
She received her bachelor and master’s degrees from MTSU and was a member of the Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. She was a teacher, having taught in Wilson and Davidson counties for 35 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Woodrow Hill “Pete” Hackney on June 19, 2011; three sisters, Carmine Gorham, Nellie Haynes, Zora Williams; and two brothers, Jessie and Preston Adams.
She is survived by one sister, Christine Adams Fox, of Lebanon, and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ, special nieces and nephews, Anne Whitefield and Gini Warmath.
Active pallbearers will be Donald Spires, Dwight Hackney, Ronnie Fox, Bruce Fox, Wayne Gorham, James Haynes, Clarence Williams and Bobby Stroud
