Americans rally past Nationals 9-8 in district final

ASHLAND CITY — The Lebanon American League scored five times in the top of the fifth inning to win a wild Dixie Youth district final 9-8 over their Rotary counterpart National League late Thursday night.
Both teams had already clinched berths in the O-zone state tournament in Dyersburg which will begin July 18.
The Americans jumped to a 4-1 lead in the top of the second inning. The Nationals scored in each of the first four frames to lead 8-4 going into the fifth.
Carson Boles drove in two American runs. Levi Sampson doubled while Trevor Sanders singled twice.
Ethan Chambers doubled and singled for the Nationals while Riley Hines and Matthew Winfree each singled twice.
The Lebanon American [Gold] joined their Rotary League National brethren in the Dixie state tournament via a 9-3 win over Greenbrier earlier Thursday night.
The Americans, coming off a 9-6 win over Greenbrier late Wednesday night, jumped to a 4-0 first-inning lead in the rematch.
Jeremiah Hastings picked up the win with relief help from Mark McDearman as Lebanon outhit Greenbrier 10-9.
Luke Bradshaw drove in four runs, Hastings and Cole Ferguson three each and Jorey Jones and Kameron Bond two apiece.
Bradshaw tripled and singled. Ferguson and Hastings also singled as they and Jones doubled. Bond drove in two runs.
Late Wednesday night, Lebanon National manager Randall Hawks won a coin toss which put his team into the Dixie Youth state tournament.
The flip put the Nats into Thursday's district championship game, which also punched their ticket to the state.
The Lebanon Gold forced the coin toss by handing Greenbrier its first loss of then tournament earlier in the night 9-6,.
The late-Wednesday contest was a tale of two games as the Gold held off a late Greenbrier surge.
The Gold led 8-0 after two innings and 9-0 midway through the fourth before Greenbrier did its scoring over the final three frames, bringing the tying run to the plate in the sixth.
But Matthew Jenkinson finished off Greenbrier in relief of starter and winner Gaven Reasonover.
Greenbrier outhit Lebanon 11-7. All of the Gold's hits were singles, including two by Hastings.
Gold Kiwanis lose in Little League district final
HARTSVILLE — The Lebanon Gold Kiwanis run-ruled Smith County 13-3 before losing the Little League district final to Gallatin 12-1 Thursday night.
Mason Everett drove in six runs on a 3-for-3 night against Smith County. Jacob Belcher had five RBI on two hits, including a home run over the center-field fence.
John Tomlinson struck out four over the final two hitless innings. He, Jack Martin, Tyler Wiggins and Brock Gann each garnered a hit.
Wiggins and McKane Everett had Lebanon's only hits against Gallatin.
Lion 15s crush Crossville
LIVINGSTON — Lebanon's 15-year-olds opened Babe Ruth League district tournament play Thursday night with a 13-2 crushing of Crossville.
The Lions won in five innings by run rule.
Daniel Dillard pitched four innings for the win before Austin Graves worked the fifth.
Reese Fudge hit a two-run homer for the Lions, who will face Sparta at 6 p.m. today. Sparta drew a bye Thursday.
