LEBANON – A record 13 Cumberland University programs were honored as NAIA Scholar Teams over the weekend.

Teams must post a minimum 3.0 grade-point-average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution and the team GPA includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.

Thirteen of CU’s 15 programs governed by the NAIA were honored, up from eight in each of the last two seasons. Women’s golf and women’s tennis tied for the highest grade-point-average at 3.57, the fourth straight year that women’s golf was at the top of the list for the Bulldogs.

Men’s tennis accumulated a 3.39 GPA, while volleyball collected a 3.29 and women’s cross country was 3.32. A total of 889 were honored nationally from 115 institutions by the NAIA. Cumberland ranked tied for 13th in the country for most programs honored this year.
