From staff reports

It's not likely any of these kids from Watertown will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. But they can always say they played the game in Cooperstown, N.Y., during the summer of 2013.

The Watertown Tigers, featuring players ages 10-12 from the middle school junior-varsity roster, plus one player each from Gordonsville and Christiana to round out the roster for the Dreamspark Invitational Tournament earlier this summer.

Watertown, coached by Lane Price and Kendal Watts, went 3-4 during the week which ended July 4, finishing as the top-seeded 3-3 team following pool play. They finished 44th out of 104 teams.

The Tigers held the lead in each game, including over the top-seeded team going into the final inning.

Seven of the 11 Tigers combined to hit 18 home runs, a few of which were their first ever.

Depending on the field they were playing on in the Dreamspark complex, their games were streamed live online.

When not playing, the Tigers took in the sights, including the famed Doubleday Field and the Hall of Fame.

"This was a great experience for the kids, coaches and parents," Watts said. "It is hard to visit this place without coming away with a true love for the game whether you are a fan of baseball or not."

Members of the team are Joey Parlament, Nathan Fish, Lain Hindsley, Brandon Watts, Brandon Allison, Mason Malone, Braxton Swann, Tyler Vastola, Landry Williams, Elijah McClary and Saben Shofner.
