NASHVILLE — Trevecca Nazarene women's basketball coach Gary Van Atta has announced the signing of NCAA Division ll transfer Marissa Jennings of Lebanon.

Jennings played for the Lebanon Devilettes prior to signing with the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears two years ago.

"Marissa is great fit for Trevecca. She's very academic minded, has excellent grades and feels as though she's finally found her college." said Van Atta, a Mt. Juliet native, "Basketball-wise, she is athletic and talented. She's a hard worker and is a versatile player. She can face the basket and shoot the three, put it on the floor and get to the basket or she can post up inside. I like how much she wants to be a Lady Trojan. I think that's important."

The 5-10 forward played just one season for the Bears after spending her first year red-shirting due to an injury. In her red-shirt freshman season, during the 2012-2013 season, Jennings averaged 1.1 points per game while shooting .37% from three-point range. Jennings played in 17 games and started one contest. The Bears were 19-10 last season and advanced to the NCAA Division ll Playoffs, losing in the Southeast Regional Tournament.

While at Lebanon, Jennings averaged 14.5 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as a senior.

Jennings also earned team Most Valuable Player honors and was a first-team all-district 9-AAA pick while being named the LHS and Wilson County Athlete Of The Year.

Jennings has numerous connections to Trevecca. She played at Lenoir-Rhyne along with new Trevecca teammate Kayla Biles. At Lebanon, she played for former Trevecca assistant and now Tennessee State University women's basketball coach Larry Inman.
