Lady Bears beat LHS in three

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet swept Lebanon 25-17, 25-15, 25-9 in District 9-AAA volleyball Tuesday.

Halle Raines racked up 29 assists and three aces for Mt. Juliet while Ryann Amity added 11 digs, Allyson Huffman 10 kills and Tavie Bell four blocks as the Lady Bears improved to 7-5 for the season and 3-0 in the district.

Alex Britt led Lebanon with six digs, four kills, an ace and a block while Kelsey Yarbrough finished with five kills and three digs, Nicole Painter four kills and a dig, Tatum Thompson 13 assists and Megan Brown nine digs.

Mt. Juliet also won the junior-varsity match 25-17, 25-21.

Brooke Pickler led Lebanon with six assists, six digs and four kills while Taylor Black supplied six digs, five assists and two kills and Erin Arnold six kills and three digs.

Mt. Juliet will travel to Wilson Central on Thursday for a 6 p.m. match. Lebanon is scheduled to play host to Maplewood at 6 p.m. tonight before returning to district action 24 hours later at defending champion Portland, coached by former Lady Devil Brittany Pickler, Brooke's sister.

Central takes down Gallatin in three

GALLATIN — Wilson Central swept District 9-AAA rival Gallatin 25-14, 25-15, 25-19 Tuesday.

Jordan Fitzgerald finished with nine assist, three aces, two digs, two blocks and a kill for the Lady 'Cats while Cassie Bryant banged out six kills, four digs, three aces and a block; Delaney McCorkle five kills, four digs, three aces and a block; Macy Wright four aces, three digs, two kills and two assists; Brittany Wiseman 11 digs, a kill and an assist; Averi Usher three kills, a block and an assist; Amy Trice eight assists and a dig and Kristen Guethlein a kill as Central improved to 6-4 for the season and 2-1 in district play.

Central came from behind in the junior-varsity match to win 27-29, 25-7, 15-9.

WCHS will play host to Mt. Juliet on Thursday. The JV will serve off at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 6.

FCS sweeps St. Andrew's

Friendship Christian swept visiting St. Andrew's-Sewanee 25-21, 25-20, 25-23 in East-Middle District action Tuesday at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

Sam Finley led the Lady Commanders with 10 kills four aces and three digs while Savannah Robinson racked up eight kills and three digs; eighth-grader Kendall Tipton [just called up to the varsity] six aces and three digs, Libby Nave five digs and four aces and Madison Bryant two aces as Friendship improved to 16-1 for the season and 2-0 in the East-Middle District.

Friendship will travel to Knoxville Webb for a district match Thursday and stay over for the Knoxville Catholic Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
