Jones records 10 kills en route to Cumberland victory

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Sheridan Jones recorded 10 kills and a .333 attack percentage, leading the Cumberland volleyball team to a straight-set victory over Pikeville in a Mid-South Conference match Saturday.

Karli Collins added personal season-highs in assists with nine and digs with 12 in the Bulldogs’ 3-0 win.

The Bulldogs (8-3, 2-2) opened the match with a 25-23 victory in the first set, before opening wide margins in the final two. Cumberland completed the win with 25-11 and 25-15 wins, respectively.

The win marked the fourth straight for Cumberland, including a pair in Mid-South Conference competition. The Bulldogs dominated the net against Pikeville, recording a season-high 22 total blocks, including a game-high six block assists by Jones.

Cumberland resumes play Thursday in a home contest against Shawnee State before playing host at the Volleydawg Classic beginning Friday. Cumberland will square off against Union College and Lindenwood-Belleville on Friday.
