MJCA middle rolls to sixth win

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet Christian improved to 6-0 Thursday night with a 28-6 win over St. Joseph at Suey Field.

The Saints compiled 305 yards of offense led by Tristan Mathis’ 101 and a touchdown on seven carries. Alex Pitman picked up 75 yards and two TDs on six rushes. Fullbacks Josh Jose and Andrew Kittrell combined for 72 yards on 15 rushes.

Pitman completed 2 of 8 passes, hitting Preston Sloan for a 37-yard touchdown. He also found Trent Graves for a 22-yard gain and a two-point conversion.

Sloan and Kittrell led the defense with 3 ½ tackles apiece while Mathis managed three stops and Jose and Will Dedman two apiece. Cole Alsup intercepted two passes and Noah Michael one. Jose had a sack and Kittrell blocked a field goal.

“Our guys have really come up huge on defense this season,” Mt. Juliet Christian coach Mike Kittrell said. “Our offense continues to put points on the board and have big plays. It really feels good to see our guys getting after it each and every time they step on the field. We just have to stay the course and good things will keep happening.”

Mt. Juliet Christian will next travel to Harding Academy next Thursday for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
