Cumberland is ranked 15th in this week’s NAIA women’s soccer coaches’ top 25 poll, the national office announced Tuesday.

The Bulldogs are rated 12th nationally in the first official NAIA women’s soccer modified ratings percentage index (MRPI) released this week.

Cumberland has won four straight outings overall, outscoring its opponents, 12-2, including a 6-1 victory Tuesday at Shawnee State. CU also defeated Campbellsville (2-0), Trinity International (2-1) and Union University (2-0) since its only loss of the season, 5-3, to Savannah College of Art & Design on Sept. 6.

The Bulldogs will continue Mid-South Conference action over the next week, facing St. Catharine (Sept. 28) and the University of the Cumberlands (Oct. 1) on the road and Pikeville (Oct. 4) at home before taking on 10th-ranked Martin Methodist on Oct. 11 in Pulaski.

The MRPI consists of the team’s modified winning percentage, their opponents’ winning percentage and the cumulative ratings points from the NAIA women’s soccer coaches’ top 25 poll. Each of the three values has a weighted percentage calculated in the MRPI. The MRPI modifies the value of home/away/neutral results and adds more value for games against opponents ranked in their respective national poll.

Cumberland reached as high as 24th in last year’s MRPI but started this season ranked 13th in the NAIA preseason poll and has faced then 22nd-ranked Brenau along with Savannah College of Art & Design (currently ranked 23rd).
