MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet clinched the top seed in the upcoming District 9-AAA tournament with Thursday night’s 25-18, 25-14, 25-18 triumph over Beech.
Ryann Amity finished with 17 digs and 15 blocks for the Lady Bears while Shelby Woodard supplied four aces and four blocks and Halle Raines 33 assists.
Mt. Juliet moved to 19-10 for the season and 11-1 in district play, three games ahead of 8-4 Lebanon with two league matches remaining.
Meantime, the Lady Bears will join Wilson Central in this weekend’s Back to the Buro tournament at Siegel. Mt. Juliet will be in a pool with Independence, Hume-Fogg and Riverdale.
Lebanon moves into second place
GALLATIN — Lebanon broke a tie and went on to beat host Station Camp 25-16, 24-26, 25-16, 25-13 in District 9-AAA volleyball Thursday night.
The Lady Devils improved to 8-4 in district play, trailing only first-place Mt. Juliet’s 11-1 mark.
Alex Britt notched 19 kills, 16 digs, five aces, an assist and a block for the Lady Devils while Tatum Thompson totaled 38 assists, 12 digs, three aces and a kill; Kelsey Yarbrough eight kills, six blocks and two digs; Megan Brown 12 digs and Bri Clemmons nine kills.
Lebanon’s junior varsity prevailed 25-17, 25-17.
Brooke Pickler supplied seven digs, six assists and an ace for the Lady Devils while Taylor Black totaled six assists, three digs and two kills; Erin Arnold four kills, four aces and three digs and Whitney Hight three kills, two digs and an ace.
Lebanon will travel to Beech, which fell to 7-5 with Thursday’s loss to Mt. Juliet, on Tuesday.
Central sweeps Hendersonville
HENDERSONVILLE — Wilson Central rolled to a 25-15, 25-18, 25-16 victory over District 9-AAA rival Hendersonville on Thursday.
Dalaney McCorkle delivered eight kills, an ace, a dig and a block for Central while Brittany Wiseman finished with 15 digs, two aces and two assists; Jordan Fitzgerald 14 assists, four aces and a dig; Averi Usher six kills, two digs and two assists; Macy Wright two digs, a kill and a block; Amy Trice nine assists and five digs, Natalie Walker eight kills and a block, Cassie Bryant seven kills and two digs, Kristen Guethlein a block and an assist, Claire Smith two digs and Libby Trowbridge a kill as the Lady Wildcats climbed to 17-16 overall and 7-5 in the district.
Central’s junior varsity won 25-12, 25-12 while the freshmen also won in two games.
The Lady Wildcats will play in the Back to the Buro tournament at Siegel this weekend.
