Lady Devils beat Beech in four

HENDERSONVILLE — Lebanon solidified its hold on second place in District 9-AAA with a 25-22, 17-25, 25-21, 25-14 victory at Beech on Tuesday.

Alex Britt led Lebanon with 19 kills, 14 digs, five aces, an assist and a block while Tatum Thompson totaled 32 assists, seven digs and three kills; Bri Clemmons nine kills, three blocks and a dig; Kelsey Yarbrough five kills, two digs and a block and Megan Brown 13 digs as the Lady Devils improved to 18-8 for the season and 9-4 in the district.

Lebanon also won the junior-varsity match 25-21, 26-24.

Taylor Black notched nine digs, seven assists, four kills, two aces and a block for Lebanon while Brooke Pickler picked up seven assists, seven digs, four kills and two aces; Alyssa Hughes nine digs and an assist and Erin Arnold six kills and six digs as the Lady Devils improved to 12-5, 9-4.

Lebanon will close the regular season Thursday at Gallatin.

The JV district tournament will be Saturday at Wilson Central. The varsity tournament will begin Monday at Portland.

Central swept by Portland

GLADEVILLE — Wilson Central lost to visiting Portland 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 in District 9-AAA volleyball Tuesday.

Amy Trice totaled 10 digs, five assists and an ace for the Lady Wildcats while Jordan Fitzgerald finished with 10 assist, four digs and an ace; Brittany Wiseman seven digs, a kill and an assist; Libby Trowbridge six kills, two blocks and a dig; Delaney McCorkle seven digs and four kills, Macy Wright six digs and two kills, Kristen Guethlein two kills and a block, Natalie Walker two digs and a kill, Cassie Bryant a kill and a dig and Claire Smith four digs as Central slipped to 17-22 for the season and 7-6 in the district.

Portland also won the junior-varsity match 25-20, 23-25, 15-10; and prevailed in the freshman match in three games.

The Lady Wildcats will close their district schedule at 6 p.m. Thursday at Beech.

Central will be the site for the district JV tournament Saturday. First matches will serve off at 10 a.m. and wrap up with the championship at 1 p.m.

Mt. Juliet rolls past Hendersonville

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet closed its home schedule Tuesday with a 25-13, 25-11, 15-16 win over District 9-AAA rival Station Camp.

Allyson Huffman notched nine digs and five aces for the Lady Bears while Halle Raines racked up 36 assists, Ryann Amity 13 kills and Shelby Woodard three blocks as Mt. Juliet moved to 22-14 for the season and 12-1 in the district.

Mt. Juliet, which has already clinched the top seed in the upcoming district tournament, will close out the district and regular season at 6 p.m. Thursday at Hendersonville.

Lady Saints swept at DCA

DONELSON — Mt. Juliet Christian dropped a 25-18, 25-12, 25-21 East-Middle District 1-A decision at Donelson Christian on Monday.

Lauren Wankel led the Lady Saints with 10 digs and six blocks while Meredith Orr set up 18 assists, Liz Russ spiked 10 kills and Morgan Adcock served up an ace as Mt. Juliet Christian slipped to 7-10.

“DCA is a talented team, but I thought we came out and played well,” Mt. Juliet Christian coach Bridget Bass said. “We have a big game Thursday night against Ezell[-Harding] and we have to come out and play hard.”

Mt. Juliet Christian played host to McClain Christian on Tuesday.
