Winfree Bryant girls edge Rockvale behind Newton’s 24

ROCKVALE — Winfree Bryant’s girls emerged from a back-and-forth battle with a 35-35 squeaker over Rockvale on Thursday night.

The Lady Ravens led 18-15 at halftime before the Lady Aviators came back to improve to 2-4.

Samantha Newton notched a game-high 24 points for Winfree Bryant while Maleigha Oldham scored seven and Allie Dozier, Abby Chance and Rachel Tarpley two apiece.

Winfree Bryant will travel to Cookeville on Monday for a 6 p.m. game at Prescott South.

West Wilson girls edge Southside in OT

West Wilson’s girls emerged from an overtime tilt at Southside with a 37-31 victory Thursday night.

Jasmin Angel’s three-pointer in the final seconds of regulation brought Southside into a toe.

Two free throws by Kenadhi Killebrew, a basket by Taylor Tucker and a free throw each from Sarah Harmon and Chelsea Davis sent West Wilson to victory as the Lady Wildcats climbed to 4-2.

Tucker scored a personal-high 17 points for West Wilson while Killebrew notched nine points, Bartoia Buchanan three, Connor Coward and Ashley Spencer two each and Harmon, Davis, Faith Gorrell and Kaylee Richetto a free throw apiece.

Angel hit a pair of threes in leading the Lady Saints with 12 points while Aubree Starnes added 11, Keionna Britton five, Natalie Pollard two and Miyaunna Cason a free throw.

West Wilson will play host to Rockvale on Monday.
