Baird boys pull away from Carroll-Oakland

Walter J. Baird’s boys bolted to an early lead Thursday night before finishing off visiting Carroll-Oakland 38-22.

The Blue Devils led 7-1 following the first quarter and 17-6 at halftime. Carroll-Oakland closed to within 21-14 through three periods before Baird closed out the Eagles with a 17-8 fourth.

Kentez Buford scored 16 points and Dylan Alsup 14, including a pair of three-pointers, for Baird. Eli McDearman dropped in four points and Daniel Covile and Tavarus booker two each. Booker’s eight rebounds led the Blue Devils.

Noah Mulaski’s 15 points and eight rebounds led Carroll-Oakland. Jensen White scored a three-pointer while Chase Edwards tossed in a two and Gavin Reasonover and Tyler Wiggins a free throw apiece.

Southside boys pull away from Purple Tigers in second half

WATERTOWN — Southside’s boys broke a halftime tie Thursday night to defeat Watertown 32-22.

The Purple Tigers led 4-2 following the first quarter before the Saints pulled into a 12-12 halftime tie. Southside then opened a 22-17 advantage going into the fourth as the Saints improved to 6-4.

Ethan Shelton scored 11 points from Southside’s backcourt while Baylor Franklin finished with six, Cameron Marshall five, Eric Odum four and Nathan Harris, Braden Costley and Griffin Creswell two each.

Preston Tomlinson tossed in nine points for the Purple Tigers while Austin Lasater added eight, Nathan Fish three and Jared Tomsen two.

Southside will travel to Tuckers Crossroads next Thursday with the girls tipping off at 6 p.m.

Friendship falls to Boys Prep

Friendship Christian’s boys dropped a 46-23 decision to visiting Boys Prep on Thursday night at the Bay Family Sportsplex.

The Commanders fell behind 12-5 in the first quarter, 21-11 at halftime and 28-17 through three periods as Friendship dropped to 2-2.

Matthew Skeen scored 12 points from the post for Friendship while Dillon Holland, Hunter Eastland, Ben Jamison, Hanley Sobieszczyk and Ethan Bult two each and Mac Reeder two each.

Friendship will travel to Lancaster Christian in Smyrna on Monday with the girls tipping off at 6 p.m.
