COOKEVILLE — Walter J. Baird’s boys won a low-scoring 28-15 middle-school basketball game at Avery Trace on Thursday night.
The Blue Devils led 7-2 following the first quarter, 10-6 at halftime and 19-9 going into the fourth.
Tavarus Booker almost personally matched Avery Trace’s scoring output with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Dylan Alsup took down a game-high 15 rebounds to go with eight points. Daniel Covile and Brady Chappell each tossed in two points and Malcolm Logue and Eli McDearman a free throw apiece.
West Wilson boys top Mt. Juliet
MT. JULIET — Gavin Johnson had 20 points as West Wilson's boys beat Mt. Juliet 49-39 on Thursday night.
Johnson had three 3-pointers to spark the Wildcats. Brian Aiken had eight points while Dalton King added six and Dennis Stallings, Nathaniel Paredes and Jeffery Crawford had four apiece. Cameron Bass had three points on a 3-pointer.
Tony Thompson led Mt. Juliet with 26 points. Carter Cavin had six points while Zach Gibby had a 3-pointer for all of his scoring. Jordon Lockridge and Aiden Raines had two points apiece.
West Wilson will play at Walter J. Baird on Monday night.
